Microsoft’s Azure Data engineering team is looking for the Software Engineer II to join leading the transformation of analytics in the world of data with products like databases, data integration, big data analytics, messaging & real-time analytics, and business intelligence.

The products our portfolio include Microsoft Fabric, Azure SQL DB, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure PostgreSQL, Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Service Bus, Azure Event Grid, and Power BI.

Within Azure Data, the business intelligence team builds and maintains Power BI which is the undisputed leader in BI tool in the industry today and serves as the bridge between data professionals & Office users.

The candidate will be responsible for driving efforts to enhance web client developer productivity, satisfaction, and the overall quality of our web applications.

Qualifications

Required / Minimum Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience.
  • 1+ year’s experience in Web Development including Angular, React, TypeScript, Webpack.
  • 1+ year's experience working with client-side engineering tooling (ie. Webpack, Rollup, Typescript compiler, Parcel).

Other Requirements :

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings : Microsoft Cloud Background Check :

This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred / Additional Qualifications :

  • Interest in working on client developer experience features
  • Experience in designing and implementing automated tests, including unit tests and integration tests.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to write concise and accurate technical documentation, communicate technical ideas to non-technical audiences, and to lead development teams.
  • Track record of shipping highly scalable and reliable services / systems
  • Ability to work independently and in a team setting and be able to research innovative solutions for challenging business / technical problems
  • Solid technical aptitude and problem-solving skills, take initiative, and be result driven effective debugging skills

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $98,300 - $193,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $127,200 - $208,800 per year.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and drive initiatives to improve web client developer productivity and satisfaction by identifying pain points, proposing innovative solutions, and implementing best practices.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and backend engineers to ensure seamless integration of client-side and server-side components.
  • Architect and design robust, scalable, and efficient web application architecture, making informed decisions on technology stack, design patterns, and code structure.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other engineers, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Evaluate and adopt new technologies, tools, and frameworks that align with our development goals and enhance the performance and maintainability of our applications.
  • Conduct code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards, performance optimization, and proper testing practices.
  • Collaborate with other teams to optimize deployment pipelines, monitoring, and troubleshooting processes to ensure the reliability of our web applications.
