Job Title : Automation Technician
Shift : 2nd shift - Monday - Friday with some weekends from 2 : 00 pm to 10 : 30 pm
Location : Romeoville, IL
Target Pay Rate : $32 - $36 / hr
Responsibilities
- Perform assigned tasks while adhering to workmanship and safety standards.
- Ensure the safe and reliable operation of all facility equipment.
- Set up, troubleshoot, and repair stacking, bagging, check-weighing, UPC bar coding, case erectors, and conveyor equipment.
- Dismantle and reassemble equipment for repairs, cleaning, and lubrication according to maintenance schedules.
- Test, troubleshoot, and repair 110 / 230 / 460 volt electrical equipment, including motors, starters, relays, timers, panels, breakers, conduit, and wiring.
- Read and interpret electrical control schematics for troubleshooting.
- Perform minor programming and troubleshooting of VFDs and PLCs.
- Follow safety programs (e.g., lockout / tagout, ladder safety).
- Communicate effectively across maintenance and operations departments.
- Provide rapid response to equipment malfunctions or breakdowns.
- Ensure all equipment is ready prior to production.
- Maintain building compliance with city and fire regulations.
- Assist in coaching and training maintenance and operating personnel.
- Fabricate parts and modify equipment as needed.
- Uphold the SQF Food Safety Code for Manufacturing requirements.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to interpret procedures, comprehend instructions, and communicate effectively.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently or in a team with minimal supervision.
- Dependable, hardworking, safety- and quality-conscious.
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic experience in a food (USDA or FDA) manufacturing environment.
- Proper and safe use of hand and power tools, and working on machinery.
- Ability to work any shift as required.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License preferred.
Education, Technical Qualifications, Experience & Competencies
Required :
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic math, reading, and writing skills.
- Ability to read schematics, hydraulic, pneumatic diagrams, and blueprints.
- Proficiency in the use of measuring instruments.
- Working knowledge of automated systems.
- Above-average electrical knowledge.
Preferred :
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License.
