Job Description Summary

The Lead Manufacturing Engineer will support the design, sourcing and manufacturing of complex aerospace components and assemblies by improving producibility and reducing cost associated with Edison Works Advanced Programs.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Leads efforts with Design Engineering to implement "Design for Producibility" for new parts and assemblies.
  • Provide detailed should-costs for components, assemblies, fabrications and tooling.
  • Assists Edison Works Supply Chain in program reviews to ensure manufacturing considerations are addressed.
  • Proactively engage OV and internal shops to ensure program metrics of cost, quality and delivery are met.
  • Create manufacturing schedules and evaluate supplier routers.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and integrates with others; has working knowledge of industry capability to help make decisions on process and supplier.
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational / product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering.

Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise and data analysis to support recommendations.

Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.

Acts as a resource and mentor for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements.

Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Mechanical, Aerospace, Materials Science, Chemical, etc)
  • Additional 5+ years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance

Desired Characteristics

  • Significant aerospace manufacturing experience with conventional machining, nonconventional machining, fabrication, joining, and inspection.
  • Ability to read and interpret part drawings.
  • Proficient in GD&T and inspection methods.
  • Familiarity with Aerospace Quality standards.
