Maintenance Worker

GENERAL SUMMARY :

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Maintenance I position will be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery of maintenance and landscaping services for the Auburn Oaks facility.

These services include, but are not limited to, general repair, painting, basic plumbing, electrical work and grounds upkeep.

This position also serves as a back-up to the Service Coordinator and may be required to assist in shuttling residents to appointments.

This position is a full time, non-exempt position eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance; 403(b) retirement plan;

Paid Holidays, and Paid Time Off. This position is employed by Goodwill Industries® of Sacramento Valley and Northern Nevada, Inc.

through Next Move Homeless Services and is classified as a Safety-Sensitive position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Prioritize maintenance requests daily to ensure work is completed.
  • Perform specialized electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs.
  • Collaborate with agency vendors to complete all sub-contracted work.
  • Ensure vacant units are turned-over in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain grounds by watering, mowing and caring for trees, shrubs and flowers.
  • Serve as a backup to provide transportation to residents for shopping, medical and dental appointments, and other errands as allowed.
  • Perform general clean-up of all areas of the building as directed.
  • Assist Program Manager with showing of vacant units.
  • Ensure all inspections for fire, alarms, and safety are conducted in a timely manner.
  • Provide proactive preventative maintenance throughout the building and grounds.
  • Provide move-in and move-out assistance as needed.
  • Provide emergency on-call services as needed.
  • Notify the Program Manager of any substantial damages to property grounds and buildings.
  • Maintain proper documentation and receipts for all purchases.
  • Attend the workplace regularly, report to work punctually and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the organization.

Other Duties / Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with all Next Move Homeless Services and Goodwill Industries® Sacramento Valley Northern Nevada policies, CARF standards, and safety and security regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS :

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and / or ability required.

Basic Qualifications of the Role :

  • Must have 1-3 years of maintenance experience.
  • Must work well under deadlines and be able to multitask.
  • While this position requires driving, all driving will be conducted with the use of a company vehicle. As such, the position requires reliable transportation to the worksite.
  • Must provide and maintain valid California Driver’s License and be insurable on the organization’s automobile policy.
  • Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or property.
  • No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates an ongoing tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.
  • Must provide proof of identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
  • Must pass a drug screening and maintain compliance of the organization’s drug and alcohol policy.
  • Must pass a background screening and maintain compliance with the organization’s associated polices.
  • Must be able to perform essential functions of this job description with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
