The Senior Estimator is critical to BT Construction’s Estimating and Preconstruction team. As you step into this position you will become a leading member of a tightly-knit group within an expanding department.

Reporting to Director of Estimating & Business Development, you will be tasked with leading both hard bid and negotiated project bid (CMAR, CMGC, Design-Build etc.

In addition to excellence in traditional pipeline installations, our trenchless division, BTrenchless, Inc. offers expertise in the following trenchless technologies : Microtunneling (MTBM), Tunnel Boring (TBM), Auger Boring & Guided Boring (GBM), Pipe Ramming, Pipe Jacking, Pipe Bursting / Sliplining, Hand Mining, and Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD).

This Role would be suitable the following individuals :

  • An Estimator with demonstrable experience who is ready and looking for the opportunity to step into a leadership role.
  • An Estimator or Senior Estimator who feels like they may be stagnating or are pigeonholed in their current position and is looking to be involved in a variety of interesting and complex projects
  • An experienced Estimator or Senior Estimator who feels like a number on a screen in a large business and wants to be valued as a human being by joining a close-knit team with training and career growth.
  • A Superintendent or Project Manager looking to take their experience and apply it within Preconstruction & Estimating and progress your career within that department.

Candidate Skills, Experience, and Background

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or Equivalent) degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or similar discipline desirable but not essential .
  • Must have experience working with Municipal and / or Government clients such as Cities / Towns / Municipalities, Federal Entities such as DOT, DoD, DoJ, DoC, USACE etc.

This is due to the compliance and paperwork involved with these projects need an individual who is experienced with these sorts of bidding documents and compliance / administration to ensure they are not overwhelmed and can help other members of the team.

  • Must have experience in leading bids for CMGC, CMAR, Design-Build or similar contract / project types.
  • Must have experience with Bid2Win (B2W), HCSS or AGTEK software.
  • Must have relevant project / scope experience i.e. Underground Vaults, Valve Vaults, Deep Excavation Pipe Installation, Excavation and Subsurface Utility / Piping Installation, Storm / Sanitary Water / Underground Piping, MEP etc.
  • Must be able and willing to support the Directors as a leader / senior member of the team i.e. being trusted to make the correct technical / commercial decision if the Directors are unavailable;

being able and willing to mentor other members of the team when necessary.

Conceptual Estimating experience desirable but not essential.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $110,000 - $150,000 Base Salary.
  • Annual Bonus based on company and employee performance.
  • $700 - $950 per month Vehicle Allowance.
  • Relocation Assistance.
  • Matching 401k Employee Contributes 5%, BT Construction matches 4% (new employees can roll over their 401k in first year of employment and can begin contributing after 1 years’ service).
  • Health and Dental Insurance all employees are covered 100% on base plan and dependents at 80%; majority of Vision Insurance is covered by BT Construction.
  • 18 Days PTO, increasing with tenure up to a maximum of 36 Days + 6 Paid Holidays.
