The Department of Pediatrics at the University ofIllinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks a PediatricHematologist / Oncologist for a position as Assistant / Associate Professor ofPediatrics to enhance a growing division.

The position requires 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years ofHematology / oncology Fellowship. Theideal candidate will be BC / BE in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology / Oncologyand will hold or have applied for an Illinois physician’s license.

The position includes care ofinpatients and outpatients with a variety of pediatric hematologic andoncologic problems, including those followed in the St.

Jude’s MidwestAffiliate. The individual hired to this position will : 1) See referralhematology / oncology consultations from throughout the Central Illinois Region.

2) Fully participate in teaching programs in hematology and oncology forundergraduate medical students and residents and participate in theundergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of theDepartment.

3) Organize and conductbench and / or clinical research in the field of pediatric hematology / oncology. 4) Participate in cooperative researchefforts and clinical trials research protocols at St.

Jude Children’s ResearchHospital, Memphis, Tennessee and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).

Position Summary

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria seeks a Pediatric Hematologist / Oncologist for a position as Assistant / Associate Professor of Pediatrics to enhance a growing division.

The position includes care of inpatients and outpatients with a variety of pediatric hematologic and oncologic problems, including those followed in the St. Jude's Midwest Affiliate.

Duties & Responsibilities

The position includes care of inpatients and outpatients with a variety of pediatric hematologic and oncologic problems, including those followed in the St.

Jude’s Midwest Affiliate,

  • See referral hematology / oncology consultations from throughout the Central Illinois Region.
  • Fully participate in teaching programs in hematology and oncology for undergraduate medical students and residents and participate in the undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education programs of the Department.
  • Organize and conduct bench and / or clinical research in the field of pediatric hematology / oncology.
  • Participate in cooperative research efforts and clinical trials research protocols at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee and the Children’s Oncology Group (COG).
  • Perform other duties of a University faculty member including committee assignments, curriculum development, student counseling, and administration, as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Eligible for licensure in Illinois.
  • Board certified / eligible in Pediatrics and Pediatric Hematology / Oncology.
  • 3 years of Pediatrics Residency and 3 years of Hematology / Oncology Fellowship.
  • MD / DO or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

Interest and experience in Leukemia / lymphoma is desired.
