Mission and Core Values : To ensure that Yad Ezra is at the forefront of addressing food insecurity in the Jewish community and to cultivate partnerships with anti-hunger agencies in the Jewish and greater community.
We lead a team dedicated to eradicating hunger in a workplace that is respectful, compassionate, innovative, and sensitive to the needs of clients, volunteers, donors, and community partners.
This role oversees the day-to-day operations of Yad Ezra, ensuring long-term success and continued growth through thoughtful leadership and oversight of all programming, organizational, and financial aspects.
This position reports to the Chair of the Board.
Internal Responsibilities :
- Oversee day-to-day operations.
- Guide, drive, and manage team along with programming, fundraising, marketing, operations, bookkeeping, and physical building.
- Foster collaboration and consensus among team members, volunteers, and board members.
- Serve as a mentor, recognize contributions, motivate, and encourage development and innovation.
- Maintain records, books, minutes, documents, and financial records.
- Manage hiring, firing, performance management, compensation, benefits, and update employee handbook as necessary.
- Ensure fiscal management of the organization.
- Encourage continued education and professional development.
- Organize staff meetings as needed.
- Create and oversee marketing materials promoting Yad Ezra.
- Maintain security measures for individuals, software, building, and property.
- Foster good relations with vendors, contractors, and consultants.
- Coordinate all aspects of special events for Yad Ezra.
- Write and oversee grant submissions and follow-up reporting.
- Research grant opportunities aligned with organizational goals.
- Create and execute campaigns to raise funds.
- Enhance donor base, including businesses, individuals, and foundations.
- Ensure financial viability of Giving Gardens.
- Prepare budget forecasts and conduct financial analysis.
Board Responsibilities :
- Attend all board and committee meetings and ensure minutes are recorded.
- Provide important information to assist the board in decision-making.
- Ensure fiscal management oversight.
- Forge relationships with board members to enhance engagement.
- Report to the board on activities, fundraising, and programming.
- Support the president to ensure a meaningful term and legacy.
- Bring ideas to the board for consideration.
- Act as liaison between board members and committee chairs.
- Contribute to strategic planning for the organization.
- Equip the board to be effective advocates for Yad Ezra.
Community Responsibilities :
- Maintain relationships with Federation and sister agencies.
- Promote a positive organizational image in the community.
- Engage with agencies addressing food insecurity for partnerships.
- Execute contracts with businesses and organizations.
- Utilize Giving Gardens to educate the community about food insecurity.
- Share best practices and mentor other agencies.
- Handle media, communication, and publicity.
Professional Experience :
Minimum requirement of 5+ years in direct grantmaking and fundraising experience.
Experience working with a Board of Directors.
This is not a remote or hybrid position.
