Job Summary :

Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Coordinator, serves as a member of the healthcare team who plans, directs, and implements nutrition intervention to patients based on specified assessment criteria.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient, with awareness of the principles of growth and development and assessment of data reflective of the patient’s status to determine specific requirements and needs and responses.

Collaborates with other healthcare team members to coordinate hospital therapy and plan post discharge care. Provides nutrition therapy and education to promote healthier life style.

Maintains professionalism by providing all services in accordance with clinical standards. Serve as preceptor for dietetic interns as needed.

  • Visit patients as directed by F&N management, or when needed by diet office, as a means to improve patient satisfaction scores.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness and quality of nutrition care provided and make changes when needed
  • Demonstrate effective writing and speaking skills.
  • Demonstrate active listening skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete consults / assignments by the deadline.
  • Demonstrate willingness to assist in other areas as needed.
  • Successfully pass monthly chart audits
  • Display a positive attitude regarding constructive criticism.

Qualifications : Education / Skills

Education / Skills

Bachelor degree from an accredited college or university in nutrition, dietetics, or food service management to meet educational requirements of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics to successfully complete the Dietitian / National Registration Examination required.

Master degree preferred.

Work Experience :

Work experience preferred in a healthcare facility. Experience may be deferred for those meeting the educational qualifications

Mental Demands :

Demonstrate expertise in clinical dietetic practice and the role of nutrition in health maintenance. Knowledge and application of medical terminology, pharmacology and health systems.

Observes standards of practice with awareness of professional liability. Communicate effectively with physicians, administration, other healthcare personnel, patients, and other clients while maintaining required confidentiality.

Responsive and takes initiative with problem resolution. Ability to operate a computer, calculator, and a copy machine. Ability to calculate therapeutic diets.

Competency in coordinating nutritional care activities to assigned patient car areas.
