Credit Management provides front line credit and risk ownership including writing credit papers, performing credit analysis, modeling projection and enterprise valuation analysis, coordinating with internal partners (such as Credit Risk, relationship managers, global partners, and product teams), client engagement on credit risk and structuring, and delivering sound recommendations based on robust business, relationship, and industry analysis using experienced judgment and conforming with internal credit policies / guidelines and external regulatory requirements.
As our Credit Analyst you will :
- Develop strong fundamentals of credit analysis as well as HSBC policies, procedures, models, templates, and systems under instruction of experienced Credit Managers
- Complete modeling and detailed credit analysis (including business and industry profile, historical financial performance, cash flow projections, Enterprise Valuations and peer comp analysis) on commercial banking and global banking clients across a range of corporate structures, industries, geographies
- Support coverages teams and relationship bankers across the country in the management of their portfolios via completion of monitoring tasks on existing clients
- Work to build sufficient knowledge and skills to join coverage team within 2 years of joining the team
- Supporting and developing understanding of HSBC’s various businesses including Corporates in Commercial and Global Banking, Subsidiary Banking, Specialty teams, and Sectors
- Build a solid understanding of HSBC products and services within Commercial Banking and the broader organization (including GTS / Trade Finance, GPS / cash management, Rates / Markets, Foreign Exchange, Capital Markets, Cross-Border lending, and traditional credit products)
- Develop network within the Credit Management teams, Relationship Managers, the Credit Approval Unit, product partners, and international colleagues
- Develop a strong understanding of key regulatory metrics and compliance with initiatives around credit ratings, etc.
- Support broader Credit Management projects, initiatives, system changes, etc.
For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $60,000.00 and $65,000.00
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing / certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

You ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role :
- Undergraduate degree from a four-year school
- Analytical and detail-oriented, as demonstrated through course work and / or work experience
- Strong organization, time-management, and verbal / written communication skills
- Proactive approach to learning and development, with strong motivation to build skillset and take on new challenges
- Familiarity with Excel
- Prior credit experience not required
- Geographic mobility strongly preferred
- Hybrid role, in office 2-3 days a week (Buffalo or Chicago)
