Job Description
The WizKids Foundation is seeking enthusiastic teachers to provide instruction to students entering grades 1-8. We are seeking teachers with a positive attitude and enthusiasm for participating in a positive, upbeat, and challenging summer program.
Qualifications
- State of Illinois Teacher Certification
- Experience working with groups of elementary age (6-13) children (such as Sunday school teacher or camp counselor)
- Must have a reliable car
- Have a fun & outgoing personality
Position Responsibilities
- Work with instructional design team to develop and execute engaging science projects tailored for students in a makerspace setting.
- Inspire the next generation of scientists through our innovative activities that show kids what science is really all about
- Teach rules of conduct and maintain order in the classroom.
- Counsel pupils when adjustment and academic problems arise.
- Keep attendance as required by the camp.
- Assume responsibility for the care of materials, equipment and facilities.
- Assume responsibility for a neat, safe environment for students and be committed to their care
- Practice and promote positive interaction with and among students.
- Manage students during field trips and campus tours.
- Encourage self-direction and self-motivation in students.
- Utilize a variety of appropriate materials and hands-on resources to instruct students in science related activities..
- Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (Subsection (a)(6) of
325 ILCS 5-4).
Additional duties as contracted.
Work Environment
Education sessions will be conducted in typical indoor classroom environments at assigned locations.
Camp Hours
From June through August, camp runs Monday through Thursday and Fridays are designated as field trip days. Specific working hours will be established once the final candidate is selected.
Compensation
This is an hourly contracted position. Wiz Kids Foundation will present the selected candidate with a competitive contracted rate.
Contract agreement is subject to a comprehensive background check.
