Position Summary
Responsible for daily administration and maintenance of server and cloud hosted platforms as well as successful implementation of assigned projects relating to server operating systems and hardware.
Act as a resource for users and fellow staff by successfully developing, implementing, and supporting servers, databases, and web-based platforms.
The District represents a diverse community with a population of approximately 40% students with diverse backgrounds. We seek an individual who has successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities.
The selected candidate must demonstrate a commitment to strengthening community engagement and communication with the District’s diverse populations.
Part II : Supervision and Controls over the Work :
Works under the general supervision of the Infrastructure Operations Supervisor along with the Director of Technology who assigns areas of responsibility and establishes service standards and priorities.
Employee is expected to exercise a high level of independence in carrying out assigned work areas and responsibilities. Work is reviewed for compliance with district policy, goals and objectives, timeliness, completeness, system reliability, and system integrity.
Part III : Major Duties and Responsibilities (depending on specific assignment, duties and responsibilities listed may include, but are not limited to the following) :
- Install, document, and maintain systems for email, internet, content management, district storage, print management system, platform integrations, data discovery, video management platforms, etc.
- Works with district stakeholders to evaluate and integrate new on-premises and cloud hosted operational and instructional platforms.
- Integrates, streamlines, and automates data synchronization between various district back-end platforms.
- Monitors system performance, identifies and tracks problems, conducts troubleshooting of system problems and system integration issues, and performs corrections, adjustments and upgrades as required.
- Collaborates with Senior System Administrator to establish, negotiate, and maintain vendor contracts to include performance standards and service evaluation.
- Maintains documentation regarding back-end system configurations, operating procedures, and service records.
- Serve as a Tier 2 support resource for all system related issues for Technology Support Services.
- Works with Senior System Administrator to implement and maintain cybersecurity best practices to ensure uptime and security of critical district on-premises and hosted systems.
Group Policy, MFA, logging,
- Develops, interprets, applies, or adapts district technology policies to system operations.
- Provides detailed queries and data mining assistance of district databases to support the work of the department and its stakeholders.
- Stays abreast of current and emerging technology and related research to identify and recommend long-term planning initiatives and strategies to senior IT staff.
- Produces total cost of ownership, life cycle cost, and cost / benefit analysis to support software and hardware recommendations.
Develops project cost estimates with senior system administrator and participates in budget development.
- Maintains records and reports on system operation. Conducts cyclical system audits and assessments to identify issues and trends that require attention to improve overall system performance, reliability, and effectiveness.
- Attend workshops and training classes, read publications and periodicals, participate in Special Interest Groups, and any other means to stay current on hardware, software and other information systems in use at the NTPS.
- Support the Mission, Goals and Vision of the NTPS and Technology Services.
- Required to follow Board policies and stay abreast of updates and changes.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
Part IV : Minimum Qualifications :
- Successful experience in working with culturally diverse families and communities, or have otherwise demonstrated a commitment to strengthening engagement of a diverse community and skill in communicating with a diverse population.
- Five (5) years of substantive and progressively responsible work in an enterprise level information technology field supporting end users, cloud-based applications, and end point systems.
- Ability to effectively communicate on complex issues with a high level of effectiveness.
- Able to organize work, set priorities, and meet system requirements while maintaining flexibility to respond to unexpected problems and challenges.
- Ability to conduct long-range planning based on a substantive foundation knowledge of current and emerging technology.
- Required to carry cell phone during working hours. On occasion, may be required to attend after work hour meetings and perform upgrades and / or emergency repairs outside of standard work hours.
- Able to build strong teaming relationships and work collaboratively and effectively with other staff, employees, and supervisors.
Part V : Desired Qualifications :
- Strong working knowledge of on-premises and cloud-based IT back-end systems and how they interface with enterprise networks.
- Experience in a public service environment (preferably Education).
- Experience working with ESD, OSPI, and WSIPC systems.
- Second language skills.
