The (EMS) Clinical Coordinator position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and implementing off-site clinical education to support student development and meet program objectives.
The EMS Clinical coordinator works under the supervision of the EMS Program Director. The Clinical Coordinator manages program preceptors and monitors student health compliance and academic performance.
Oversight includes managing program adherence to hospital security, infection control, and externship scheduling and attendance policies.
- Manages the site preceptors into ensure patient contact, and clinical skill delivery and competency.
- The position provides direct student evaluation with a focus of clinical and field fire rescue operations.
- Maintains student records for accreditation and state regulated compliance.
- Administer all required documentation related to the planning and execution of the clinical sites including attendance, evaluations, preparation (shots / physicals / etc.
contracts, forms, and data entry.
- Visits Clinical and Fire Rescue sites at least once in each term.
- Manages and maintains list of active clinical sites and current clinical sites agreements, and appropriate contacts.
- Meets with the program coordinators as well as representatives of clinical sites to plan and develop meaningful clinical sites opportunities for the student.
- Educate site personnel as to the objectives, roles, procedures, and requirements of the clinical sites and programs.
- The Clinical Coordinator develops and implements clinical student scheduling.
- Serves as a liaison between the School and Affiliate sites and provides consultation with academic departments.
- Ensures that clinical procedures are consistent with clinical objectives, protocol, regulations, standards, which conform to established patient care requirement methods.
Assists the Program Director in end of clinical course experience and student evaluation
- Schedule and coordinate nurse clinical meetings, and clinical staff appointments.
- Serves as a liaison between the program affiliate sites and provides consultation with academic departments.
- Ensures that clinical procedures are consistent with clinical objectives, protocol, regulations, standards.
- Provides oversight of operations to conform to established environmental, safety and infection control requirements.
- Assists the Program Director in end of course clinical experience evaluation.
- Professionally answer telephone(s) and respond to caller’s inquiries within 24 hours.
- Respond to email requests in a timely manner.
- Contact enrolled students when class(es) will not be in session due to unforeseen circumstances.
- Provide students with documentation such as registration confirmations.
- Provide applicants with clinical entry requirements.
- Apprise Program Director of any student misconduct (e.g., adherence to dress code, attendance) as required.
- Reply to relevant Affiliate questions.
- Monitors the student health data software system the hospital interact with 2 times a week.
- Develop and maintain unit’s programmatic clinical and externship data for CoAEMSP accreditation.
- Creates and maintains required clinical student files.
- Enters, and retrieves skill data in the LMS system with consistency and minimal errors.
- Generates menu driven reports for accreditation needs.
This position is an in-person position. Bachelor's degree required.
