are seeking a skilled Staff
Research Associate to join our team and assist in
preparation, management, and daily use of critical laboratory resources,
including reagents for molecular biology experiments (2XYT, TAE, and bacterial
plates) and mammalian cell culture experiments. Optimize and perform several
laboratory techniques. Assist with determining the best experimental procedure
for all the critical experiments. Perform isolation of protein, RNA, and DNA.
Perform maxiprep, miniprep, restriction digest and electrophoresis of plasmid.
Perform production of lentiviral vectors and transduction of cell with the
vectors. Perform experiments using animal models of lentiviral transduction.
Perform experiments using BSL2+ replication competent virus, such as human
immunodeficiency virus type 1. This role will entail a large amount of tissue
culture work such as cell maintenance type work. In addition, the position will
require basic knowledge in molecular biology (such as written in the textbook,
Molecular Cloning", published by Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory
Press). You will work closely with other lab members in conducting large-scale
experiments. Assist with general organization, ordering, stocking and
maintenance of inventory laboratory supplies. Management of chemical and
biohazard safety. Cleaning of lab and office space.
Salary offers are determined based on various factors including,
but not limited to, qualifications, experience, and equity. UCLA Health hourly
salary range for this position is $26.52- $31.63.
Qualifications
Required :in microbiology, immunology, and molecular genetics.
Experience
in isolation of protein, DNA, and RNA
Ability
in maintaining proper usage of laboratory equipment.
Ability
to perform gel electrophoresis.
Skills
in general molecular biology and biochemical techniques.
Ability
to organize raw data into relevant formats.
Preferred :in tissue culture procedures.
Skills
in using computer and Excel software.
Ability
to assist with general lab organization, safety, ordering, stocking, and
maintenance of inventory laboratory supplies.
Ability
to work with mice.
