Job Duties
VMI Athletics is accepting applications for subject area tutors. This position works with cadet-athletes on both a group and individual basis to help foster their understanding of course related subject area material and their own learning abilities and study skills.
Job Responsibilities :
- Work under the direction of the Director of Cadet-Athlete Development.
- Comply with all NCAA, Southern Conference, and Virginia Military Institute rules and regulations.
- Schedule group and individual tutoring sessions within 48 hours of requests; arrive on time for scheduled tutoring sessions and keep appointments and sessions on schedule.
- Communicate effectively with cadet-athletes by establishing a positive rapport and by keeping a professional, patient, and engaged demeanor.
- Complete tutor training which includes overview of the VMI Honor Code, Cadet-Athlete Development Office philosophy, policy and procedure, and NCAA compliance training.
Minimum Qualifications
The Ideal Candidate :
- Students seeking a bachelor’s degree or successful completion of a bachelor’s degree or higher.
- Demonstrated relevant professional experience (math, accounting, etc.) and mastery of the material to be tutored.
Additional Considerations
Knowledge of the Higher Education system.
