Position : Certified Medical Assistant
Location : North Bergen, NJ
Schedule :
- Monday - Thursday : 8 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM
- Friday : 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 30 PM
- No Weekends, Holidays, or On-Call
- Floating : Flexibility and availability for schedule changes required
Job Summary :
The Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for assisting in providing clinical care to select patients under the supervision of a professional nurse or licensed medical practitioner and providing clerical office assistance.
This role is essential in ensuring efficient operation and patient care within the physician services department.
Essential Generic Job Functions :
Preparation :
- Prepare exam rooms, treatment rooms, supplies, and instruments.
- Prepare patients for physician visits and examinations, assisting as directed.
Clinical Duties :
- Take patients' vital signs and record them in medical charts.
- Understand the proper function and care of special equipment.
- Perform EKG, PFT, Audiometry, Titmus Test, UDS, BAT, Phlebotomy, and other lab tests as indicated after completing a performance evaluation checklist.
Administrative Duties :
- Maintain patient records, file records, and reports as directed.
- Assist with collections and billing procedures as needed.
- Use computer software to maintain office systems.
- Identify and respond to confidentiality issues.
Patient Care :
Identify the needs of the patient population served and modify and deliver care specific to those needs (e.g., age, culture, language, hearing and / or visually impaired, etc.).
Required Skills & Experience :
Experience :
Minimum of 2 years of prior experience in Pulmonology.
Skills :
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to interact effectively and supportively with varying populations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of computerized processes and data entry procedures.
Required Education :
- High School diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED).
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- BLS-AHA certification.
Required Certifications & Licensure :
Must hold any of the following certifications :
- CMA-NHA (National Healthcareer Association)
- CMA-NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
- CMA-AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)
- RMA-AMT (American Medical Technologists)
- RMA-NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)
- AMCA (American Medical Certification Association)
- NCMA (National Certification Medical Association)
