The Chief Advancement Officer (CAO) will increase Miami Country Day School's financial resources by planning, directing, implementing, and evaluating all fundraising programs, including the Spartan Impact Fund, major gifts, planned giving, trustee giving, and campaign efforts to support programs, facilities, and the endowment.
Leading a fundraising team of seven professionals, the successful candidate will oversee the cultivation and solicitation of major and principal gifts and implement a plan for engaging all constituents.
In addition, the Chief Advancement Officer will actively manage a portfolio of donors, evaluate existing philanthropic strengths, and build systems that support long-term growth and fundraising goals.
Ultimately, the Chief Advancement Officer will ensure that single and multi-year development goals are strategically planned, thoughtfully implemented, accurately communicated, and successfully achieved in accordance with the school's vision.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS :
The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor's degree (master's preferred) and be a collaborative and thoughtful leader who has experience implementing effective development strategies and initiatives.
The Chief Advancement Officer should be committed to upholding the key principles of MCDS's mission. In addition, they will also bring the following complementary skills and experiences :
- Respect and enthusiasm for MCDS's mission, values, and heritage and an ability and willingness to contribute actively to this mission;
- Documented history of successful fundraising across a breadth of programs, including annual, major, and planned giving;
- Experience strategically executing a capital campaign of significant size and scope;
- The willingness to partner with the President and Head of School in enthusiastically and consistently championing a bold, optimistic vision for the School's future, including appropriately ambitious fundraising goals;
- The ability to develop and execute an aspirational philanthropic vision and strategy with measurable goals and objectives;
- Experience leading change and implementing best practices and an aptitude for mentoring frontline fundraisers;
- The ability to switch easily between high-level strategic visioning and hands-on engagement as necessary, in keeping with MCDS's culture and needs;
- The ability to build new and strengthen existing relationships across campus with faculty, staff, parents, alumni, board members, and other stakeholders in support of development efforts;
- The willingness to embrace a campus culture characterized by serving its students and each other with a high degree of personal care and attention;
- Outstanding communication skills, both oral and written;
- A deep commitment to celebrating and promoting diversity in its many forms;
- Ability to travel and work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends;
Experience with independent schools is preferred but not required.
