Job Description

The James B. Edwards College of Dental Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina is seeking applications for a full time tenure track faculty position in the Department of Reconstructive and Rehabilitation Sciences, Division of Restorative Services.

Primary responsibility will be teaching classroom and clinical instruction for pre-doctoral dental students and AEGD residents.

Successful candidates will be expected to have knowledge and clinical experience in all areas of operative and fixed prosthodontic restorative dentistry.

Knowledge and experience with digital dentistry workflows is preferred. The faculty will work collaboratively within all disciplines of the department and other departments of the College of Dental Medicine in a comprehensive care environment.

Participation in scholarly activities is expected.

Qualified candidates must hold a DDS or DMD degree. Prosthodontic or AEGD / GPR certification is recommended. Experience in educational innovation, digital dentistry applications, use of technology in education and computer skills are expected with preference given to those with previous teaching and research experience.

Successful applicants should have a South Carolina Dental License or qualify for a teaching license. Salary and rank will be commensurate with experience.

Participation in the Dental Faculty Practice for private patient care is anticipated.

Continuous) Ability to maintain good olfactory sensory function. (Continuous) Ability to lift and carry 150 lbs., unassisted.

Frequent) Ability to lift objects, up to 75 lbs., from floor level to height of 36 inches, unassisted. (Frequent) Ability to lower objects, up to 75 lbs.

Continuous) Ability to perform gross motor functions with frequent fine motor movements. (Continuous) Ability to be qualified physically (by medical personnel) for respirator use, initially and annually.

Ability to maintain a valid drivers license. Computer literacy. Ability to work rotating shifts. Ability to work overtime as required.

Ability to learn and use new processes, tools and equipment as required.
