Clinton Hill Community & Early Childhood Center is seeking a dedicated and passionate Special Education Teacher to join our team.
As a Special Education Teacher, you will be responsible for providing individualized instruction and support to students with special needs.
You will collaborate with other teachers and specialists to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and ensure that students receive the necessary accommodations and modifications to succeed.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of special education principles and practices, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs
Provide direct instruction to students in accordance with their IEP goals and objectives
Modify and adapt curriculum materials to meet the diverse needs of students
Collaborate with general education teachers and specialists to develop and implement accommodations and modifications for students
Assess and monitor students' progress and adjust instructional strategies as needed
Communicate and collaborate with parents / guardians regarding student progress and support
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and records
Participate in IEP meetings and other meetings related to student support
Participate in professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in special education
Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and policies related to special education
Ensure the physical, emotional, and educational well-being of students
Collaborate and work effectively with a diverse team of educators and support staff
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master's degree preferred)
NJ Teacher of Students with Disabilities Certification
NJ Preschool-Third Grade Certification
Prior experience working with students with special needs
Strong understanding of special education laws, principles, and practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students
Knowledge of effective teaching strategies and evidence-based practices in special education
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with a team
Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Ability to handle challenging behaviors and provide behavior supports
