POSITION DESCRIPTION
The successful applicant will serve as an instructor in the Medical Surgical Technology program. As an instructor, the individual will teach Medical Surgical Technology program courses in both the traditional and computerized environment.
Courses will include lectures, clinical and lab with a focus on teaching the updated and interactive program curriculum.
The individual will also assess student performance and collaborate with program faculty and leadership to evaluate the effectiveness of instruction in the program.
Opportunities exist for participation in professional development activities and service on departmental, divisional, and / or college-wide committees.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of Medical Surgical Technology program accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA) and licensed / eligible for licensure in the State of Illinois.
- Possess a minimum of an Associate’s degree in Medical Surgical Technology. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
3. Have a minimum of three years documented experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor
in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
4. Shall meet the minimum standards of instruction established by the Administration and the Board of Trustees for
any assigned courses.
5. Possess knowledge of the curriculum.
6. Possess knowledge about the program’s evaluation of a student’s learning and performance.
7. Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers, applicable software, and Internet required.
8. A valid driver’s license is required.
STARTING PAY AND HOURS
This is a nine-month teaching position with the salary determined by placement on the base salary schedule. For example, the minimum 2023-2024 starting salary at Step 1 on the Below Master’s column is $48,976.
Voluntary overload teaching assignments may increase the annual compensation by 40%. The College offers a comprehensive flexible benefit program.
