Habilitation Specialist (DSP) Direct Support Professional- Full-Time- Springfield, IL

Hope has 12 group homes throughout Springfield where we house 4-6 children between the ages of 5 and 21. This position serves as direct support for our children and consists of :
- Ensuring kids are following the programs, schedules and activities designed and created by Hope's clinical teams.
- Actively engaging and implementing activities that are designed to promote the highest levels of independence for kids.
- Caring for children by : preparing and serving meals and snacks.
- assisting residents with personal hygiene, bathing and toileting or diaper changing activities.
- ensuring kids are dressed, clean and presentable for school or outings and that their attire matches the needs of the child and season;
- managing and administering medications;
- ensuring a safe environment and providing physical intervention or restraint in cases of maladaptive or injurious behavior;
- creating a warm and caring atmosphere for children within their homes.
Shift Options :
We are currently hiring for all three shifts. In cases where first or third shift vacancies occur, current employees transfer into them before new employees are placed.
- First Shift - 7 : 00am - 3 : 30pm
- Second Shift - 2 : 30pm - 11 : 00pm
- Third Shift - 11 : 00pm - 7 : 30am
$18.73 is the base rate of pay for all positions. employees working 2nd shift will be paid an additional $0.60 per hour and employees working 3rd shift will be paid an additional $0.
40 per hour for all hours worked during those shifts.
After 3 weeks of classroom training (mon-fri 8 : 00am - 4 : 00), employees are provided a 21-day set, rotating schedule with one weekend off (Saturday / Sunday) every 3 weeks.
Note : Candidates must be willing to work mandatory overtime for this position*
Minimum Qualifications :
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.
- A valid Illinois driver's license.
- Successful background clearance, physical, agility test, and drug / alcohol screening.
- Lift, push, pull and / or carry 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, grasp, reach, stoop, crouch, crawl and run.
