Job Summary
GateWay Community College is now hiring a great new role! This role will provide journey-level professional project management work that requires independent evaluation and analysis of issues and judgment for assigned projects and activities associated with the new EV technologies program.
Based on this there will be time spent outside of instructional activities described below. These duties will include but are not limited to developing and maintaining relationships with local and regional EV manufacturers, suppliers, and local / state municipalities.
There will also be some project management associated with lab renovations.
This position instructs, supervises, advises, and evaluates students from diverse college and high school populations in automotive classroom and lab settings that include but are not limited to, courses in Electric Vehicles (EV), EV maintenance, and EV Diagnosis.
Researches, develops, and implements EV curricula changes and course schedules; actively participates in developing, updating, and implementing instructional EV lab activities.
Works with local and statewide new-car dealerships, automobile manufacturers, and high schools for recruitment and internships.

Essential Functions
50% - Manages relationships with local and regional EV manufacturers, suppliers, and local / state municipalities. Leads projects associated with lab renovations and EV laboratory activities.
Manages the development of the overall project scope including the identification and establishment of project objectives, milestones, schedule, and overall plan.
Creates and maintains comprehensive project documentation as it relates to the Electrical Vehicles program for GateWay Community College.
Manages the assigned project budgets and related expenditures.
- 20% - Develops and enhances knowledge of the subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, manufacturer certifications, seminars, and / or workshops;
- 20% - Supervises and instructs a diverse population of students in a classroom and / or lab setting; develops written syllabi / course outlines and course materials;
- evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades exams;
10% - Maintains office hours to assist and advise students; and engages in the academic life of the college by participating in District-wide and campus committees.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business or public administration and two (2) years of experience providing journey-level project management coordination and assistance including preparing reports, maintaining records, tracking budgets, performing research and assisting with project communication.
Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, business or public administration and four (4) years of experience providing journey-level project management coordination and assistance including preparing reports, maintaining records, tracking budgets, performing research and assisting with project communication.
High School Diploma / GED and six (6) years of experience providing journey-level project management coordination and assistance including preparing reports, maintaining records, tracking budgets, performing research and assisting with project communication.
Desired Qualifications
A. Three (3) or more years of experience managing projects within the automotive industry.
B. ASE certification / s or similar, including program accreditations.
C. Five (5) or more years of automotive occupational experience and a current training history with an automotive manufacturer
D. Recent automotive teaching / training and curriculum experience at the community college or high school level or equivalent, including non-traditional settings that require professionalism, flexibility, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
E. Automotive manufacturer’s technician certifications (ie. Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc.)
F. Experience as an Electric Vehicle technician or a related role.
Special Working Conditions
- May be required to travel or be assigned to all GateWay locations
- May require some evenings or weekends
- May require prolonged periods of viewing a computer screen
- May be required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs
- Possession of a valid State of Arizona Class D driver's license is required; must meet minimum standards regarding driving :
- May be exposed to hazardous chemicals
- Work outdoors in a variety of temperatures and environmental conditions
- Will be required to work in an area of light to heavy noise levels daily
- Fingerprint Clearance Card is required for this position
