The Case Manager for the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance will be responsible for monitoring all incoming reports of discrimination, harassment, and sexual and gender-based misconduct at UMES.
The Case Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the OIE operations at UMES. This dynamic position requires a highly organized individual, skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and managing multiple tasks and records in a high volume, fast-paced environment with attention to detail, flexibility and appropriate discretion while displaying exceptional administrative skills and a creative mindset. Responsibilities
- Case management Triages reports of discrimination, harassment, and or related retaliation and provides a prompt, compassionate, and appropriate response.
- Creates, maintains, and track / monitors all incoming reports of discrimination, harassment, and sexual and gender-based misconduct at UMES.
- Responsible for outreaching to potential complainants (students, employees, faculty, and third parties) under the UMES Title IX, Discrimination, and Bullying Policies.
- Assists with conducting intake meetings with individuals affected by sexual and gender-based harassment and misconduct and other forms of discrimination and harassment, offers resolution options, facilitates academic and supportive resources, and communicates about a party’s rights in the university process.
- Responsible for communicating and / or providing resources, process information, and supportive measures, as needed.
- Collaborates with a variety of campus partners (housing, academic officials, financial aid, etc.) to coordinate support services and eliminate roadblocks.
- Maintains up-to-date records of all reports of discrimination and harassment based upon a protected category and / or sexual and gender-based harassment and misconduct at UMES and the University’s outreach, response, and process for each report using Symplicity.
- Engages in continuous learning to Title IX, Title VII, VAWA, and related civil rights regulations, state laws, and university policies.
- Assists in administrative duties of the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Classification 25- Education, Training, and Library Occupations Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Three years’ of related experience in education, case management, law enforcement, or social work.
- Demonstrated knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations related to Titles VI, VII, and IX, due process rights, VAWA, FERPA, and other applicable state and / or federal laws, rules, and regulations
Preferred Qualifications
ATIXA Title IX, Investigations, and / or Civil Rights Training
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of nondiscrimination laws and compliance regulations related to Titles VI, VII, and IX, due process rights, VAWA, FERPA, and other applicable state and / or federal laws, rules, and regulations.
