Position Summary

The Education Department at Messiah University invites applications for a full-time Assistant faculty in the Undergraduate Education program.

This is a 9-month position with limited summer responsibilities. Responsibilities This position is responsible for teaching and advising within the Undergraduate Program in Education, with specific expertise required in Special Education.

Additionally, this position is responsible for coordinating the curriculum of the special education teacher certification majors and minor.

As experience is appropriate, individuals in this position may also coordinate a minor in Speech and Language Pathology and / or collaborate closely with administrators of a program for individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Qualifications Doctoral degree (Ph.D., Ed.D.) in special education. Candidates should have a pre-K-12 teaching experience and be able to teach both introductory and mastery-level content in a range of special education courses.

Candidates should have expertise sufficient to coordinate the undergraduate special education program. Higher education experience is preferred with emphasis on experience in educational leadership.

The Program The Undergraduate Program in Special Education at Messiah University offers two majors through which individuals pursue teacher certification across the full spectrum of disabilities and age ranges, birth through 12th grade.

The curriculum emphasizes evidence-based practices, data-driven intervention planning, development of specialized pedagogies, and faith-driven and culturally responsive care for all learners.

Additionally, students may pursue a minor in Special Education paired with any major adding expertise without field practice.

The coursework for most of our Undergraduate programs is conducted primarily in person with occasional online coursework.
