Job Summary
The Clinical Research Nurse will work independently to support studies in the Human Imaging Core and the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging.
The incumbent will be responsible for all aspects of nursing care for research and clinical patients who are being evaluated on radiology scanners and / or participating in research studies conducted by or in conjunction with the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.
For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $105.99 - $137.30 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description
The UCSF Department of Radiology Imaging IT team architects, implements, and manages the computer systems and networks needed to support more than 700,000 imaging studies annually.
Our team manages the full stack from network to application and end user support. The team provide Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm support including evening and weekend call to support the Medical Center needs.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience.
- Ability to safely work in close proximity to MRI, CT, PET, and SPECT scanners as well as radiopharmaceuticals.
- Ability to safely set up equipment for procedures and position patient on the scanner table
- Ability coordinate tasks among a variety of studies and multiple patients.
- Strong IV skills.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate appropriate research procedures for a patient and research subjects.
- Direct others in the delivery of patient care, as appropriate and holds staff accountable for completion of delegated tasks.
- Complete a nursing history that includes patient and family medical history, psychosocial, cultural factors, nutritional and special needs of the patient's physical status within department timeframes.
- Ability to communicate well with other team members, research groups, clinical staff, patients, and their families. Willingness to provide assistance to other team members when needed.
- Excellent Attendance and punctuality.
Preferred Qualifications
- More than one 1 year of clinical research experience
- Maintains knowledge base consistent with new technology, procedures, and interventions specific to patient groups and their families.
- Experience in a hospital inpatient, medical center ambulatory clinic, procedural / surgical center, infusion center, or radiology setting
- Possess knowledge of clinical research data collection
- Experience with consenting for clinical trials
- Experience / Familiarity with a variety of patient populations
License / Certification
- Active CA Registered Nurse license
- Current AHA BLS Certification
- Current AHA ACLS Certification
