Job Description
What you will be doing :
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) that meet the unique needs of each student.
- Plan and deliver differentiated instruction that caters to various learning styles and abilities.
- Use evidencebased teaching strategies and resources to enhance student learning and engagement.
- Conduct formal and informal assessments to evaluate student progress strengths and areas of need.
- Regularly monitor and document student progress toward IEP goals adjusting instruction as necessary.
- Communicate student progress to parents and guardians through regular updates and progress reports.
- Establish and maintain a positive inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Implement effective behavior management strategies to promote a safe and productive learning environment.
- Foster a classroom culture that encourages respect cooperation and mutual support among students.
- Work collaboratively with general education teachers specialists and support staff to provide comprehensive support for students.
- Participate in IEP meetings parentteacher conferences and other schoolrelated meetings to discuss student progress and needs.
- Maintain open and effective communication with parents guardians and colleagues to support student success.
- Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in special education and instructional strategies.
- Participate in schoolwide training and professional development opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all federal state and local regulations related to special education.
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of student progress IEP implementation and required reports.
Experience you will need :
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid Illinois teaching license with certification in Special Education.
- Demonstrated experience working with students with diverse learning needs preferably in an urban school setting.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws IEP development and instructional strategies for students with disabilities.
- Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and independently.
