Description
Job Purpose :
The Facilities Technician is responsible for the day-to-day care and maintenance of their primary data center. Other areas of responsibilities include, basic monitoring / evaluating all Data Center systems to include responding appropriately to alarms and alerts.
The Facilities Technician will follow proper data center security practices while adhering to all company procedures and acceptable use policies.
More importantly, the Data Center Operations Technician I will maintain the highest standards for change management policies and procedures ensuring all client service level agreements are met.
The Facilities Technician must have the ability to interact with customers, coworkers, and the entire Lunavi executive team - this is important to ensure good upstream and downstream communication.
Additionally, the Data Center Operations Technician I must foster solid vendor and supporting trade relationships to ensure cooperative, timely professional services are provided to the data centers.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities :
- Responsible for the daily care and upkeep of the data center to include the following :
- Daily cleaning of all data center white spaces by employing a HEPA vacuum to remove dust
from all surfaces.
Day-to-day cleaning and upkeep of the data centers inside and out to include some
additional suites as needed, if applicable.
- Pallet removal, cutting them down with a saw.
- Cardboard breakdown and disposal
- Cleaning, maintaining customers suites and areas as needed.
- Keep all white spaces free of clutter and combustibles.
- Keep all Lunavi storage areas clean and organized.
- Complete all daily reoccurring cleaning and organization tickets in a timely manner.
- Ensure support tickets are effectively resolved
- Shipping and receiving
- Daily walk through rounds of all of the datacenter critical devices. (CRAC’s, UPS’s, Core network routers, Servers) and identify any alarms or issues noticed in any customer Cabinets / devices
- Cabling, termination, and disconnects, running copper and fiber cross connects and ensuring cable management and cable cleanup.
- Participate in and learn about Data Center infrastructure reliability
- Work effectively with other workgroups
- Uphold Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Maintain strong customer and vendor relationships and represent Lunavi in a positive light
- Participate in customer installations ensuring all new customer build-outs meet standards and deadlines
- Learn and maintain optimal data center security standards and assure data center infrastructure, security and access are within those industry standards
- Learn basic data center infrastructure trouble shooting.
- Be able to reference all emergency escalation procedures accurately and in a timely manner
Requirements
- Able to maintain a high level of accuracy and professionalism
- Good written and oral communication skills; must be able to clearly and concisely communicate information to non-technical departments and users.
- Able to work with various departments and contractors
- Work toward being functional and able to work on call 24x7 in support of data center infrastructure equipment
- Must be willing and able to work on ladders for an extended amount of time
- Strong organizational and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and groups
- Ability to work independently with excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Windows Suite (Excel, Word, and other applications applicable to data center operations)
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and some power tools, such as screw drivers, wrenches, drills, saws, etc.
- Ability to work under pressure while trouble shooting supporting data center infrastructure
- Ability to operate positively as a team member in a fast-paced environment
