About the opportunity SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking highly experienced, dynamic, self-motivated Project Manager - Environmental Planning for our Las Vegas, NV office.

We are looking for one of the two Project-levels (Project Manager or Associate Project Manager) with strong interpersonal skills and experience in natural resources management and biological studies.

This individual will successfully drive our projects throughout all phases from early planning and permitting through construction.

You should reside in the Nevada area and potentially support our operations throughout the West region. This Project Manager should have technical expertise in a range of activities such stakeholder engagement, local / state / federal permitting, National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents, facility siting and constraints studies, and agency interactions at all levels.

Skills include the ability to manage small to large-sized projects, and track milestones within schedule and budget expectations.

You will also support or be responsible for QA / QC oversight of project team deliverables. Our Planning program works on diverse natural and cultural resources related projects across many business lines, including renewable energy generation, transmission, utilities, mining, transportation and oil and gas projects.

In addition, the SWCA West region offices offer a unique work environment that specialize in natural resources, cultural resources, and permitting.

This is a regular (with benefits), full-time, position. This requisition can hire at two levels : Project Manager typically, with minimum (7) years of experience and expertise.

Associate Project Manager typically, with minimum (5) years of experience and expertise. Application deadline : Our team will begin reviewing applications immediately, and interviews will be scheduled with qualified candidates on a rolling basis.

What you will accomplish Assist or serve as project manager or technical lead on a variety of resource management planning projects Assistant or manage small and large-sized planning tasks and projects, including maintaining budgets, schedules, safety, and quality of service Supervise, mentor, and provide project technical support to staff-level planners and field staff Work closely with a project team to develop innovative approaches to project permitting and assessment, and write proposals that meet client needs and can withstand agency and public scrutiny Take initiative and resolve issues to assure client needs are met effectively Work with Corporate accounting department to review invoices, expenditures and project audits for projects / tasks Work closely with SWCA’s resource scientists and environmental planners, managers and directors in both natural and cultural resources throughout the company to promote SWCA’s business interests in adherence to its mission, vision, and values Implement and administer SWCA’s safety procedures and standards of scientific and professional ethics Assist and / or lead desktop and field assessments and survey efforts including fieldwork, preparing and providing peer review for technical reports and environmental permits such as plans of development and constraints analyses, and stakeholder involvement.

Conduct scientific assessment and statistical analyses Experience and qualifications for success Bachelor’s degree in planning, environmental science, natural resource management, geology, or another related field.

Five (5) years of relevant experience performing environmental permitting, resource studies, surveys or compliance, or projects in the private or public sector.

Experience working as an environmental consultant. Extensive working knowledge of federal and state laws (e.g., NEPA, CWA, and ESA) governing natural resource management.

Demonstrated experience with federal agencies such as Bureau of Land Management (BLM), US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC), US Forest Service (USFS), and / or US Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), and other state / local agencies.

Preferred qualifications : (7) years of relevant experience performing environmental permitting, resource studies, surveys, compliance, or projects in the private or public sector;

with at least two (2) years as a multi-disciplinary project manager; including staff and project team supervision. Two (2) years or more experience working as an environmental consultant.

Experience working with renewable energy, public utilities, mining, and / or oil & gas, transportation clients. Experience and ability to manage multiple complex projects and programs, in diverse settings and with changing requirements.

Demonstrated experience working in a face paced work environment, and a desire to work in a highly collaborative team atmosphere.
