Position Highlights : Critical Care Unit
- Number of beds on unit : 20
- Patient population : The Critical Care Unit specializes in the care of acutely critically ill adults requiring close monitoring and frequent, advanced intervention.
Conditions include complex multi-trauma, acute stroke, neurosurgical patients, post-op oral / maxillofacial reconstruction, uncontrolled seizures, and more.
- Nurse to Patient ratio : 1 : 2
- Department culture and resources : The Critical Care Unit is a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. We have a robust Partnership Committee, unit-based educator, and nurse supervisors.
- Frequent nursing skills / equipment used : Continuous cardiac monitoring, various types of lines, IV pumps, feeding pumps, and commonly used IV drips.
Responsibilities include implementing procedures and theories, completing initial assessments, ensuring patient and employee safety, and communicating effectively with patients and colleagues.
Additionally, ensuring good communication with patients and family, working with ventilated patients for early mobility, collaboration with the team for best outcomes, and monitoring and adjusting specialized equipment used on patients.
