Job Summary
Assists a teacher in all phases of classroom activity. Plans, develops and participates in learning activities, working with individuals and small groups of children.
Acts as a resource person, providing information, assistance and guidance to students in completing assigned tasks.

Essential Functions
- Organizes and implements an instructional program suitable to the needs of children. In areas such as natural and social sciences, language arts and literature, mathematics, reading, music and the arts;
- participates in learning activities, working with individuals or small groups of children; circulates through the classroom to help children complete assigned tasks;
serves as a resource person, providing information, assistance and guidance to children in completing classroom activities.
Reads and / or tells stories to children; assists in musical, rhythmic, and dramatic activities; participates in games and play activities;
accompanies classes on field trips; assists teacher in establishing and maintaining a classroom environment which is conducive to learning.
Prepares exhibit tables, classroom display, and bulletin boards; assists teacher in preparing paper and other materials for classroom activities;
corrects test papers and worksheets; aids in cleaning work and classroom facilities.
Discusses the student’s progress and problems with parents / guardians and with professional education staff members.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- 30 credit hours or more in a matriculated status at an accredited college or university.
- Current enrollment at an accredited college or university or graduate of an accredited college or university.
- 20 hours per week in accordance with the school’s High Impact Tutoring schedule.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrated knowledge of :
- the modern principles, practices and theories of education.
- the theory and principles of child growth and development.
- the current trends in education. the current trends, and the general and specific problems and issues in urban education.
Demonstrated ability to :
- assist superiors in selecting and organizing curriculum content.
- develop materials for use in instructional programs.
- promote and interpret the aims and goals of classroom programs to parents
- establish and maintain effective working relationships.
