Summary
Licensed clinical professionals such as Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners who provide inpatient and outpatient medical diagnosis, treatment, and ongoing care of adults and children under the direction and supervision of a Physician.
- Have successfully completed a relevant period of post-training practice. Demonstrate and maintain a thorough knowledge of techniques of interviewing, medical and relevant history taking, principles and practices of general medicine, emergency medicine and disease states as they relate to the area of work;
- thorough knowledge of health appraisal tools, laboratory tests and findings; thorough knowledge and ability to plan a regimen of care based on assessment and findings;
- considerable knowledge of available resources and appropriate referral methods; ability to examine patients and detect abnormalities;
- ability to record accurately and complete all information necessary to evaluate and develop a treatment plan; ability to communicate orally;
- ability to teach and counsel individuals, families, and groups in areas of health maintenance, preventive medicine, and care of the sick;
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and to gain the confidence of patients and families and to work effectively with them;
- This practitioner will possess and demonstrate full knowledge of the legally mandated requirements and restrictions on their clinical practice, including but not limited to the prescription of drugs and other treatments according to State specified formulary and both knowledge and compliance with the written specification of their supervisory relationship with the physician responsible for their practice.
Speech and auditory acuity for communication of patients' needs. Visual acuity for observation of patients. manual dexterity for assisting with minor surgical procedures.
Much standing, walking, bending, and lifting. Visual acuity and ability to read and write to document patient information and read patient charts.
Mobility must be such that will allow Physician Extender to treat and physically examine patients.
