 UC Davis Medical Center Sacramento, CA  Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer  This position provides cardiac ultrasound support for the hospitalâ€s pediatric and perinatology services, pediatric specialty clinic, community outreach clinics, pediatric heart surgery program and cath lab procedures.

Duties also include supporting the pediatric heart surgery program by assisting the pediatric cardiologist with transesophageal ultrasound exams intraoperatively;

supporting the perinatologists by performing fetal cardiac exams; educating patients and their parents; and providing detailed written preliminary reports and assisting in billing.

 Minimum Qualifications • Certified (RDCS) Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer • Experience in pediatric echocardiography with current registration through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) • Must have knowledge of fetal cardiac embryology, congenital heart defects, cardiac hemodynamics and Palliative and / or corrective congenital heart surgical procedures.

• Skill to instruct, train and educate health providers in the assessment of congenital heart disease. • The sonographer must have the knowledge and the ability to operate ultrasound equipment to produce high quality echocardiograms with experience in an acute setting hospital based pediatric echo lab.

• Experience in fetal echocardiography with current registration through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (preferred) • Knowledgeable in fetal cardiac embryology, congenital heart defects, cardiac hemodynamics and palliative and / or corrective congenital heart surgical procedures.

• Experience in providing detailed, concise written and / or oral preliminary reports regarding the patientâ€s cardiac anatomy and hemodynamic status for the interpreting pediatric cardiologist.

• Experience in special procedures assisting the pediatric cardiologists with sedated echocardiograms and transesophageal echo in the OR and cath lab.

• Experience to instruct, train and educate health care providers in the assessment of congenital heart disease. • Ability to present a professional manner in dress and comportment.

• Works in all aspects of the hospital environment from the intensive care units to the emergency room, operating rooms, cath lab and pediatric specialty clinics.

Is responsible for safely moving ultrasound equipment throughout the hospital and transporting ultrasound equipment to Shriners Hospital for Children when necessary.
