They commonly work with metals, wood, ceramics and other materials that are difficult to clean by hand. Sandblasting is used to smooth out rough spots on a surface, remove paint or rust, or prepare an object for painting or coating.
Work environments could be at the shop, on a land based construction site or shipyard. Sandblaster Industrial Painters have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include : Operating high-pressure hoses to blast away layers of paint from surfaces such as walls or floors.
Sandblasting equipment, including compressors, filters, hoses, nozzles, and pressure gauges. Inspecting work sites to ensure the safety of workers and property Inspecting blasting operations to ensure that they are performed in accordance with safety regulations.
Cleaning tools and equipment to prevent clogging or other problems that could result in injury or damage to equipment. Cleaning work areas before and after blasting projects to remove debris and dust.
Preparing blasting equipment for use by checking fluid levels and replacing worn parts. Removing old paint from surfaces using a sandblaster or other blasting equipment.
Operating a computer to enter data about blasting jobs, including work order information and progress reports. Required Skills : Positive attitudes Strong work ethic Attention to attendance and punctuality Stamina and physical strength Reliable transportation Patience and ability to stay with one task for long periods of time Attention to detail Ability to wear a respirator Simple on-boarding process!
