Position Summary : For the right candidate, the shift lead has the responsibility of being the most impactful. They are essential to the success and overall customer dining experience at Burrito District (BD).

How? They support and lead their team using their organizational and problem solving skills. A shift lead must understand that we are in the business of hospitality and service which begins with a genuine and positive attitude.

As any team member, a shift lead should memorize and understand our menu entirely. Our guests rely on us to explain our procedures and ingredients.

We must be ready to answer their questions and if necessary educate our guests about our food and menu. This also includes being able to train our new hiring staff.

A shift lead at BD understands not every guest is familiar with our menu, our cuisine or ingredients. A prospective candidate must have attention to detail and have organization skills that can be applied to every single aspect of our services ranging from taking orders, to light food prep.

  • Promote, perform, and work in a manner specific to Burrito District LLC's mission and culture
  • Ensure that all standards, procedures, specifications, safety guidelines, trainings are followed, and executed or completed in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all guests feel welcomed, are greeted properly by staff, are given responsive, friendly and courteous service at all times
  • Ensure that all menu items and products are safely, consistently prepared and served per restaurant recipe portioning, cooking, along serving standards
  • Achieve company objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance in faciltity sanitation, and cleanliness through training of employees in a positive, productive working environment
  • Supervise and participate in kitchen and dining area cleaning responsibilities
  • Assist the prep cooks and kitchen manager on estimating ingredients and supplies required for inventory
  • Investigate complaints regarding food quality, service, accommodations and report to management for resolution
  • Assist kitchen with receiving products and deliveries in correct unit count and condition from vendors
  • Check with Kitchen Manager with inventory of food, equipment, smallware, liquor and prevent shortages
  • Observe and evaluate staff upholding work procedures per restaurant standards
  • Uphold time sequences of food production for types of orders (take-out / drive-thru / deliveries)
  • Inspect and uphold convenient arrangements and orginazaiton of work stations and cleanliness to standards
  • Analyze operational problems such as, waste and theft, and report to management to establish resolution
  • Be knowledgeable of restaurant policies and personnel
  • Continually strive to develop staff in all areas, and recommend measures of improving worker performance to increase quality and enhance safety
  • Perform food preparation or service task such as cooking, cleaning tables, serving food and alcoholic drinks whenever necessary
  • Attend all scheduled staff meetings and offer suggestions for improvement
  • Fill-in for staff when they are on breaks, for example, and ensure quality guest service to continue Tools & Technology :
  • CAKE point-of-sales and workstations
  • VTech cordless phone station for phone orders and customer service
  • EPSON Thermal / Impact printers
  • On-demand delivery tablets (Samsung Tab A, Lenovo)
  • Mop, mop bucket, broom, dustpan, microfiber towels
  • Soda machines, agua fresca machines, coffee maker
  • Kegerator, margarita machines Minimum Qualifications & Physical Requirements :
  • To be fluent in English (Spanish is a plus). Be able to read, write, and speak in English
  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, pending diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher will be discretionary to the hiring manager (for applicants with absolutely no experience)
  • Possess a current Food Handlers Certification
  • Possess a current TABC (not immediately required)
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours)
  • Possess basic math skills, be able to count cash drawer accurately, and process cash / credit / debit payments each shift
  • Must be able to use and operate a touchscreen monitor
  • Ability to carry and lift up to 30 lbs when needed
  • Have the ability to be agile, to bend, crouch, reach, push, pull, and occasionally get on a step stool
  • Ability to work, focus, and act professionally under pressure in a high volume working environment
