Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO).

Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

This role will be focused on increasing Kuiper Satellite production rate through monitoring and improvement of test yield for Kuiper Satellite hardware and Software.

To deliver these complex solutions, you will partner with peers across all Kuiper teams, including hardware, software, manufacturing, quality, test etc.

Key job responsibilities

The Sr Technical Program Manager for Production Test Quality's role is key to Kuiper's ability to increase satellite production rate.

Change in test system software is a necessity for Kuiper to continuously improve our satellite function, expand test coverage during production and increase test execution automation.

In your role, you will partner across multiple engineering teams responsible for developing test systems and sequences. You will set up the required monitoring and improvement mechanisms to ensure Kuiper continuously improves testing yield and test throughput.

Your experience in software / hardware development and testing will help you create efficient mechanisms allowing many engineering teams to improve Kuiper satellite production test systems.

A day in the life

This role will be highly collaborative, requiring partnerships with cross-functional leaders to drive positive results. This role requires ability to advocate on behalf of our customers (internal and external) and an ability to push back without being adversarial.

You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations.

You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before.

About the team

The Operations Command Center (OCC) team is the Kuiper Production Operations Integrated program management function that enables successful production scaling.

The vision of OCC team is to enable success of end-to-end Kuiper operations team by proactively developing systems, processes, mechanisms, and tools that are required to detect issues, expose root cause, validate improvements, maintain controls, and drive operational rhythms.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent
  • 6+ years of technical product or program management experience
  • 3+ years experience in hardware / software testing
  • Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building data driven mechanisms and coordinating a large portfolio of actions and projects to reach an organizational goal
  • Experience owning cross-functional program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership (up to VP level)
  • Experience influencing design, test procedures and requirements as a mean to improve yield

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
  • Masters degree in engineering (aerospace, aviation, computer science, electrical, electronics)
  • Experience in test engineering and / or working in aerospace or aviation industry
  • Experience leading an operational team or organization to increase throughput and / or drive operational excellence
  • Ability to regularly engage with senior stake holders and influence across the organization
  • Excellent analytical and interpersonal skills, with ability to work successfully across all engineering disciplines
  • High sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals
