Hotel June is seeking a Chief Engineer to join our team.

With the perfect Westside L.A. location wrapped in a 250-room timeless mid-century modern building, Hotel June is imbued with inviting design, vibrant food, and thoughtful details, including a lush Baja-inspired pool deck, fully-equipped fitness center, a cozy open lobby and two on-site restaurants.
The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall maintenance and physical operation of the hotel, ensuring the property is in optimal condition at all times.
This position oversees the engineering team, manages preventive maintenance programs, ensures safety compliance, and coordinates with other departments to resolve technical or maintenance-related issues efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage a preventive maintenance program for all hotel systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical equipment.
- Perform inspections and address immediate repairs to maintain the functionality and appearance of the hotel.
- Ensure all guest requests and complaints related to maintenance are resolved promptly to enhance guest satisfaction.
- Lead, train, and supervise the engineering team, ensuring high levels of productivity and service.
- Prepare team schedules and manage shift coverage.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and development opportunities for staff.
- Ensure the hotel complies with local, state, and federal safety regulations and building codes.
- Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments.
- Oversee the maintenance of fire protection and life safety systems, including sprinklers, alarms, and fire extinguishers.
- Coordinate with other departments to ensure smooth operations and resolve maintenance issues.
- Oversee relationships with contractors, vendors, and external service providers for outsourced services.
- Negotiate contracts and ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field (preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in engineering or facilities management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong technical knowledge in HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical equipment.
- Working knowledge of building codes, OSHA regulations, and fire / life safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Skills
- Certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems.
- Experience in the hospitality industry or a similar environment.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and remain calm under pressure.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as climbing, kneeling, or crawling.
