About The Position
Job Title : Sterile Processing Technician Job Specialty : Central Processing Job Duration : 13 Weeks Shift : Evening 8 5x8 Hr Guaranteed Hours : 40.
00 Hours per Week Experience : Previous experience in hospital or clinic operating room preferred License : N / A Certifications : N / A Must-Have : - Ability to communicate effectively within a multi-functional team - Experience and understanding in using computers and software relevant to Sterile Processing - Ability to function successfully in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment - Ability to work nights and / or weekends as needed Job Description : Responsible for assembling, cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing, and storing procedure trays, surgical trays, and equipment.
- Assemble, distribute, and deliver disposable and durable medical equipment, case carts, and supplies for the needs of Operating Rooms, Nursing Units, Ancillary Departments, and Clinics.
- Operate and monitor sterilization equipment.- Disassemble carts and follow Universal Precautions for decontamination.- Sterilize and disinfect durable medical equipment and instruments;
package clean supplies and instruments, maintain records for all instruments, and transport sterilized items to the appropriate areas.
Assemble sterilized instruments and inspect for cleanliness and / or impairments. Properly check power equipment.- Utilize measures for easy instrument tracking, including labeling processes and use of engravers;
report and document all missing instruments and replace implants in trays.- Communicate equipment and instrument inventory status with Central Processing staff and Surgery Charge Nurse, including order status, back orders, and changes.
- Respond to emergency situations by ensuring that all emergency, trauma, and add-on cases are supplied and delivered to the Operating Room in a timely manner.
- Use applications and technology to accurately facilitate record-keeping in accordance with State and Federal regulations.
- Provide on-the-job training to newly hired associates in the department.- Promote mission, vision, and values, and abide by service behavior standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.- May be required to float to other departments (within scope of competency and qualifications) based on business needs.
- May be required to be on-call during a regularly scheduled shift.
