The Opportunity :

We are looking for a dynamic engineering leader to join our global athenaEDI Development team responsible for providing cloud Software as a Service (SaaS) products for our athenaEDI clearinghouse.

Our EDI clearinghouse solution generates over $70M in revenue, processes more than 650M transactions annually, connecting 2100+customers with 300+ payers.

Our Agile development teams, focus on modernizing our EDI Clearinghouse that powers our revenue cycle management systems connecting them to payers through APIs, scripting, and connectivity solutions on one platform.

Delivering performance and outcomes that drives revenue, strengthens financial performance, and improves the patient experience.

We enthusiastically work in a JaaS opensource (OpenJDK, Oracle and other Apache technologies) environment, developing the best technologies to provide solutions to our providers and payers.

As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading development engineers on a scrum team through the SDLC process.

In addition to people management and mentoring, you will be expected to help the leadership team champion and teach our technology direction and be accountable for the successful delivery of our solutions.

As a hands-on engineering leader, you will spend time building the solutions side-by-side with those you are leading. You will mentor developers and help to define and optimize our engineering practices.

Practices that encourage learning new technology while finding the best environment to enable growth of our team members.

Learning the ins and outs of athenaEDI product line, you will work closely with the product owner and tech leads, as they define the roadmap and help the developers understand the vision and charter for the team.

You take responsibility working with the Program Manager, Product Manager, Architect, and Engineering Leader to plan and deliver product, adhering to athenaEDI release cadence.

Our customers are our number one priority. You strive to deliver high quality, secure solutions with extremely efficient execution with the least impact to cloud operations and our customers.

Ideal candidate would have functional and technical knowledge of athenaEDI, working knowledge of our EDI core products, infrastructure, and how our infrastructure connects providers to payers.

The Team : athenaEDI, a global development team spanning across 3 time zones (Boston / Burlington, Seattle, and Bangalore, India), which consists of Software Engineering, Program and Product Management, Architecture, and DevOps.

We use Agile methodologies to drive our collaboration and work ensuring we are always focused the highest priorities with the most impact to our business.

We are held accountable by operational metrics, leadership, goals, and most importantly our strive for excellence focusing on customer success through our quarterly product delivery with high quality and predictable execution to our athenaEDI Clearinghouse.

We are constantly looking for innovation opportunities to improve our products, build APIs, retire Tech Debt, and build new features to increase our revenue.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an Agile scrum team consisting of 5 full stack engineers.
  • Collaborate with product owner and stakeholders to drive cohesive relationships and optimal solutions.
  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to manage team commitments delivering value to our customers via technology solutions.
  • Lead and mentor team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment.
  • Drive culture of innovation, engineering best practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Learn all functional and technical aspects of the athenaEDI product line.
  • Contribute as full-stack engineer on scrum team development work.
  • Drive scrum team accountability in planning and execution of the program commitments.
  • Identify and remove impediments to the scrum team.
  • Build and maintain product knowledge architecture and engineering intelligence on the team.
  • Assist in managing forecast and budget for engineering team needs for effective development.
  • Drive career development and performance reviews for the engineering team.
  • Coach your team, provide regular feedback and encourage team to learn and grow.
  • Build team morale on a foundation of mutual respect.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or STEM Major.
  • 10+ years of experience full-stack software engineering.
  • 3+ years of People Leadership OR 7+ years of athenaEDI Scrum Team Technical Leadership OR 10+ years of athenaEDI Architect experience.
  • 3+ years of experience with Java programming language.
  • 3+ years working in Agile development environment.

Additional Qualifications, a plus.

  • 5+ years of experience in programming languages like Javascript, SQL Query, Angular (AMD).
  • 3+ years of EDI data clearinghouse experience.
  • 1+ year of hands-on experience using Apache framework, Karaf, ActiveMQ, and Camel.
