Scientist I, Microbiology Development
Responsible for :
- Performing a variety of tasks related to microbiological testing of pharmaceutical products, raw materials, and medical devices under general direction of lead scientist or manager.
- Performing, as part of a team, routine and non-routine USP, ASTM and CLSI based microbiological testing for anti-infective and disinfectant efficacy (, time-kill assay, MIC / MBC, sterility testing, microbial limits, bioburden).
- Routine laboratory maintenance, propagating bacterial cultures, preparation of general laboratory duties such as preparing media and reagents, labeling plates and tube, and re-stocking supplies.
- Works within established SOPs and / or scientific methods and adheres to quality guidelines.
- Prepares and presents data at laboratory meetings.
- Maintains adequate inventory control of media and reagents as required for laboratory operation.
- Assists in the qualification and validation of equipment and lab instruments including calibration.
- Responsible for maintaining laboratory notebooks and ensuring all documentation is performed under GDP guidelines.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
Experience Required
Minimum 1 year of work experience in an industrial microbiology research and development or quality control environment, with experience in aseptic techniques preferably in a pharmaceutical or medical device product testing. laboratory
Skills & Certifications
- Use of basic laboratory equipment such as pipets, biological safety cabinets, pH meters, spectrometer, microscope, autoclave / sterilizers, and balances.
- Microbiological techniques : streaking for isolation, pour plating, spread plating, serial dilutions, and aseptic technique.
Eligibilities & qualifications
- BS degree in Microbiology or Biological Sciences
