Position Summary :
The role is to work with the account Project Architect and Project Manager on multiple commercial tenant improvement projects, focused on the retail sector.
The Job Captain is competent in all conventional aspects of architectural practice with an emphasis on the technical implementation of the project design.
Performs work requiring independent judgment and critical thinking as well as handling multiple projects concurrently. Adapts standards and criteria to project requirements and possess a diverse working knowledge of related disciplines.
The Job Captain is responsible for coordinating and producing Contract Documents with support and direction from the Project Architect and other senior staff.
Qualifications include :
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited program preferred.
- 5 or more years of experience in architectural practice or with a national retail chain providing store planning services.
- Experience with retail store planning, including preliminary design through construction documentation.
- Knowledge of architectural detailing and current construction standards.
- Proficiency in REVIT and other business software and their application to Contract Documents. BIM and model coordination with outside consultants.
- Ability to directly communicate with clients and manage project deliverables.
- Ability to directly coordinate with project consultants (civil, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and structural).
- Exposure to building codes and their application.
- Exposure to construction contract administration processes.
- Exposure to agency review process and ability to successfully complete the entitlement and permitting process with guidance from the Project Manager.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple project / locations across multiple accounts.
- Effective English communication skills, conversational and written, for ongoing project collaboration and documentation.
