Overview

The Indirect Procurement Manager plays a critical role in managing the procurement of goods and services that are not directly related to the core business activities.

They are responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and supplier relationships.

This role is essential in ensuring that the organization's indirect procurement activities support its overall objectives and contribute to its success.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies for indirect procurement categories to achieve cost savings and improve supplier performance.
  • Identify and assess potential suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier relationships to ensure quality and reliability of goods and services.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their indirect procurement needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to support procurement initiatives, supplier selection, and contract negotiations.
  • Monitor market trends, global economic conditions, and industry best practices to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Implement and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement in procurement processes and systems to enhance productivity and value delivery.
  • Manage and analyze procurement data to make informed decisions and drive performance improvements.
  • Ensure effective risk management and mitigation strategies for indirect procurement activities.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to procurement team members to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Collaborate with finance and legal teams to ensure adherence to financial and legal regulations and requirements.
  • Prepare and present reports, business cases, and recommendations to senior management.
  • Participate in supplier diversity and sustainability initiatives in alignment with corporate goals.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of procurement-related technologies and systems.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in indirect procurement, strategic sourcing, and supplier management.
  • Demonstrated success in negotiating and managing contracts with suppliers to achieve cost savings and quality improvements.
  • Strong understanding of procurement best practices, industry trends, and market dynamics.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in using procurement software and digital tools for data analysis and supplier management.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams and build effective relationships with stakeholders.
  • Solid knowledge of contract laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proven track record of achieving measurable results and driving process improvements in indirect procurement.
  • Professional certifications such as CIPS, CPSM, or CSCP are advantageous.
  • Familiarity with sustainability and diversity considerations in procurement practices.
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Commitment to ethical conduct, integrity, and transparency in all procurement activities.
