Job Description

Omni Providence is seeking a Class 2 Engineer to join the team! This team member will be responsible for maintaining the general condition of the property regarding all aspects of basic electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical.

Responsibilities

  • Receive direction from engineering management on daily assignments or projects and complete them within the specified time and manner.
  • Perform maintenance and light repairs, public area walk-through, and daily light checks and repairs.
  • Perform routine landscaping inspection and repair on the grounds.
  • Perform CARE / PRP to guest rooms and public spaces (paint, plaster, tile, wallpaper, etc.) to the specifications required by Omni.
  • Undertake light installations or carpeting (e.g., build cabinets).
  • Repair equipment or appliances in guestrooms or public spaces.
  • Answer room calls through radio from PBX or Synergy system.
  • Assist technicians with electrical, plumbing, or HVAC repairs.
  • Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks (e.g., shoveling snow, leak repairs).
  • Identify and report the need for major repairs.
  • Receive direction for house calls via radio and respond promptly and appropriately.
  • Receive and update work requests from the work request system (Synergy).
  • Complete appropriate documents and logs for work assigned on a daily basis or as a project.
  • Assist engineers and mechanics with repairs and learn while helping with those repairs.
  • Embrace all learning and training opportunities.
  • Understand Omni fire alarm procedures and other emergencies.
  • Understand the importance of Lock out Tag out, the dangers of arc flashes, and other precautions around equipment.
  • Clean all work areas after completing a job.
  • Maintain engineering shops in a clean and organized manner.
  • Maintain engineering parts and supplies inventory.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions;

complete safety training and certifications.

Follow all company policies and procedures; ensure a clean uniform and professional personal appearance; maintain confidentiality of proprietary information;

protect company assets.

Qualifications

  • Entry-level experience as a handyman with basic knowledge of general engineering tools and electrical equipment.
  • Ability to assist all guests with a friendly and outgoing demeanor.
  • Ability to prioritize and self-manage assigned work.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to properly prioritize workload in a dynamic environment.
  • Must be able to fully understand, read, and write in the English language.

Physical Requirements

  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects of moderate to heavy weight without assistance.
  • Stand or walk for an extended period or for an entire work shift.
  • Respond quickly to sounds and move safely over uneven terrain.
  • Identify and respond to dangerous situations.
  • Safely climb ladders while carrying moderate to heavy weight.
  • Wear personal protective equipment when required.
  • May be required to work at heights above 100 feet.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Must be able to work overnight shifts, including holidays and weekends.

Tools & Equipment

Power tools and general engineering tools for HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment.
