Our client is an innovative 3PL known for its strong customer base, dedicated employees, experienced management team, and history of growth and profitability.

The group specializes in the transportation of agricultural products from shippers to receivers across the United States.

Their goal is to efficiently move goods in a timely and cost-effective manner while building strong relationships with customers.

They move goods utilizing a wide variety of means : hoppers, walking floors, dry vans, reefers, tankers, belts, flatbeds, end dumps, etc.

Logistics Specialist

As a Logistics Specialist with Account Executive focus, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Customer and Carrier Account Executives and other members of the Operations Team.

This position is designed for individuals who are motivated to take on increasing responsibilities and are committed to professional growth.

The expectation is that successful candidates will transition into an Account Executive role within 12 months. This role requires a strong sense of urgency, exceptional time management skills, accurate data-entry capabilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Job Type : Full-time; In-Office

Responsibilities :

  • General Logistics Operation Support : Assist in various areas of logistics operations as needed. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth and efficient logistics processes.
  • Customer Communication : Communicate extensively with internal and external customers, providing accurate and timely information on inventory needs.
  • Load Verification and Data Entry : Verify shipments and details on individual loads. Understand specific load or shipper requirements and address discrepancies promptly.
  • Freight Booking and Carrier Planning : Gradually assume responsibilities for booking freight and / or planning dedicated carriers under the guidance of senior team members.

Work closely with the team to ensure optimal carrier selection and scheduling efficiency.

  • Record Keeping and Updates : Maintain record-keeping systems and update load information, dates, and revisions. Validate shipment, receipt, and invoices for all products received and shipped.
  • Track and Trace Functions : Perform track and trace functions for dedicated carriers to ensure on-time deliveries to customers.
  • Issue Resolution : Diagnose, assess, and resolve load-related issues promptly and effectively.
  • Career Development : Actively participate in training and development opportunities with the goal of transitioning into an Account Manager role within 12 months.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.

  • Negotiation Skills : Develop negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and agreements with shippers, carriers and other logistics partners.
  • Sales and Relationship Building Skills : Cultivate strong relationships with carriers and customers, promoting a collaborative and positive work environment.
  • Geographical Proficiency : Thorough knowledge of US and North American geography, including major cities, transportation hubs, key highways, and interstates.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability : Adapt to changing priorities and handle unexpected
  • challenges with a flexible and adaptable mindset.
  • High School Diploma or GED Required. Associate degree preferred.
  • Preferred Skills : Market Knowledge : Demonstrate a solid understanding of the logistics market, including industry trends, competitive landscape, and emerging opportunities.

Familiarity with Regulations and Compliance : Have a working knowledge of transportation regulations and compliance requirements to ensure adherence to legal standards.

Knowledge of Various Transportation Modes : Possess familiarity with various truck transportation modes (e.g., bulk, dry van, refrigerated, flat bed, etc.)
