Surgery-Clinic / Head and Neck - (Unscheduled, Day Shift) -

The Provider Transcriber performs transcription functions by shadowing a Provider and taking real-time notes in the electronic medical record during face-to-face encounters with patients.
He or she records the history of present illness, past medical history, past surgical history, family history, social history, review of systems, positive findings from the physical exam, the Provider's impression / assessment and plan / orders, and is accountable for the accurate transcription of medical reports, history & physical, relevant orders, patient instructions, etc.
He or she will accurately and thoroughly document in the patient’s medical record only information that is verbalized (i.
e. word for word) or inferred by the Physician and / or independent licensed practitioners for whom he or she is transcribing.
The Provider Transcriber will also assist with the preparation of school / work notes and / or letters to Referring Providers.
Performs other duties as needed.
High School Diploma or GED required. Completed course work in medical terminology, stenographer, secretarial or transcription is preferred.
No experience required, minimum one year of transcription experience preferred.
Able to keyboard 50 wpm. Able to use a computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace;
see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position.
