The Quality Control Technician will perform routine to complex quality control inspections during the manufacturing (fabrication and production) process and verify all project-related documentation has been received for incoming material, third-party inspections, and finished goods during manufacturing by completing the following :
Responsibilities
- Communicates quality control information to all relevant organizational departments or contractors.
- Performs visual inspections of finished products including, but not limited to welded structures, insulation and interior finish installations, and mechanical / electrical / plumbing installations.
- Verifies calibrate logs are up to date and helps with scheduled calibrations for manufacturing equipment.
- Cross references all manufacturing documentation for accuracy and consistency : IPO / ECN, PO, Work Ticket / Work Steps, project drawings.
Redline any updates or corrections as required.
- Instructs shop personnel in existing, new, or improved quality control processes and procedures.
- Produces reports regarding daily, weekly, or monthly areas related to manufacturing quality.
- Identifies and maintains critical inspection points as defined in the customer's ITP (Inspection Test Plan) or standard ITP during the manufacturing process.
- Participates in the development of custom project ITPs, quality control plans and / or custom quality processes.
- Participates in internal ISO audits (9001 / 45001) and any non-conformance activities to generate reports regarding out-of-conformance issues, failure investigations, and the recommended corrective actions related to any discontinuities.
- Reviews checklists for fabrication and manufacturing for completeness and accuracy during daily / weekly inspections.
- Completes final inspection forms as required and generates reports using Microsoft PowerApps, and PowerBI reporting tools.
- Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes conform with the company quality standards, company requirements, and applicable welding codes.
- Promotes and holds others accountable for high-quality standards and safe working environment.
- Other continuous improvement activities and duties as assigned by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two plus years of related quality or inspection experience and / or training;
or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints (drawings) and specifications.
- Must have good written and verbal skills and to interpret customer and company quality requirements to ensure conformance with the customer expectations.
- Basic computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new software systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiar with construction and manufacturing codes and regulations is preferable (i.e., IBC Codes, NEC, etc.).
- 2+ years Quality Management System experience (ISO 9001 : 2015, AS 9100 D) is a plus.
Previous visual welding inspection experience a plus.
