Department Summary :

The Integrated All-Domain Effects Division (N) in MITRE’s Air and Space Forces Center seeks an experienced Systems Engineer to support a number of mission-focused projects across the department and NSEC.

The division focuses on developing and integrating capabilities to counter peer adversaries and enable the US to project power and operate within highly contested environments.

Many of the capabilities being developed and integrated require partnerships between the Air Force, other services, and the Intelligence Community (IC).

This role will support key sponsors as part of an integrated portfolio of high-impact projects, and has touchpoints across the DAF, DoD, and IC.

The role will be working across multiple projects, which encompasses multiple stakeholders and project objectives. They will have the opportunity to drive and contribute to major design, investment, and requirements decisions by the DAF and broader DoD / IC in developing and integrating current and next generation warfighter capabilities.

Technical functions include developing and executing test and evaluation activities in support of program milestones, conducting analyses of COTS, GOTS, and custom capabilities, providing objective technical guidance to shape and define program objectives and requirements.

This position requires initiative, deep technical expertise in a relevant field and systems engineering experience, and ability to work with and influence senior sponsors, as well as embracing, embodying, and executing MITRE’s cultural attributes of speed, adaptability, and risk-taking.

Roles & Responsibilities :

The selected candidate will be expected to execute the following duties while performing assigned duties.

Impact

  • Provide direct technical contributions to supported projects
  • Shape and define project tasks and workstreams to achieve greatest impact across multiple projects

Technical Quality

  • Execution in accordance of N Technical Quality norms and process
  • Collaborate across MNS, MPS, and MITRE Labs to ensure the right staff are being applied

Project Strategy

  • Continually work with relevant project leaders to shape work to maximize impact
  • Establish and document work objectives to go beyond the FY boundary and to have an exit plan or maturity plan
  • Establish cross-project collaborations with shared outcomes and multi-stakeholder buy-in

Staff Development

  • Demonstrates and promotes MITRE’s cultural attributes (speed, risk-taking, adaptability, collaboration, grace and respect)
  • Provides technical leadership and mentorship across teams
  • Providing regular feedback to staff and contributing to staff development

Basic Qualifications :

  • Masters degree or equivalent experience and + more years of experience in relevant domain / role.
  • Must have prior experience working in Special Access Programs (SAPs).
  • Active TS clearance
  • Proven track record in making technical contributions including work shaping to meet sponsor needs.
  • Strong knowledge of the DoD and DAF sponsor space and missions, with experience working at senior levels across and within multiple organizations
  • Superior sponsor engagement and communications skills and experience in sensitive, high-risk customer contexts
  • Knowledge of MITRE's value proposition, organizational structure, and work programs
  • Strong writing, editing, and interpersonal skills including demonstrated ability to articulate complex topics to sponsors and staff
  • This position requires a minimum of % hybrid on-site

Preferred Qualifications :

Strong technical background consisting of a combination of the following areas : software engineering, automation, space systems, military and commercial communications systems, advanced sensor technologies, modeling and simulation, complex systems engineering, digital engineering, electronic warfare.

The candidate should work well in collaborative and dynamic environments.
