Job Summary :
We are looking for a Retail Supervisor to oversee the inventory control functions for Retail Operations at the Oasis at Death Valley.
The personality and professionalism of our retail team will instill confidence in our guests and will have a direct influence on the environment.
The Details :
Position Type : Full-time Year-round
Start Dates : July 2024
Pay : $18.00
Schedule : Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days / per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
- Provide and ensure excellent guest service by adhering to and enforcing Xanterra’s policy, procedures and service standards.
- Ensure that all cashiers are performing their duties properly; ring up all sales before taking money, call out amount tendered in dollars and cents , place bills horizontally under clip, and count back change.
- Demonstrate and train good sales techniques by performing suggestive selling and add-on sales. Follow up with staff to ensure add-on sales are occurring.
- Ensure that the sales floor is kept clean; which includes sweeping, vacuuming, dusting, mopping, and trash removal.
- Ensure all displays are kept stocked, neat and clean.
- Ensure that accurate helpful information is given to guests.
- Alert the Manager to shrinkage, guest problems and concerns as necessary.
- Assist the Manager to maintain accurate shop records : reports, transfers, payroll and inventory control.
- Receive direct deliveries from suppliers and process the necessary documentation. Make certain that paperwork is routed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Assist the Manager with scheduling, supervising and developing gift shop personnel. Assist in maintaining proper employee files and assist with evaluations (HIGs).
- Ensure that registers are routinely cleaned. Report all register issues promptly.
- Maintain a safe work area.
- Knowledge of Raymark POS system and ability to troubleshoot common problems.
- Able to perform all duties of a Sales Associate. Be accurate with cash handling, daily reporting procedures and inventory control.
- Able to coach employees to maintain high and consistent standards in the gift shop.
- Understanding of a retail operation in a high traffic seasonal environment.
- Must be able to foster cooperation among a diverse workforce. Work well with all staff members.
- Should have a basic knowledge and understanding of souvenirs, gifts, jewelry and other products sold within the assigned location..
- Able to work with a minimum of supervision. Maintain excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Demonstrate excellent sales approach and skills.
- Demonstrate awareness of general gift shop security and theft prevention.
Qualifications
- Three years supervisory experience in a high-volume retail store.
- Experience in product display, product ordering, inventory control and loss prevention procedures.
- Experience with Word and Excel software as well as computerized POS systems.
- Ability to interact with a broad cross-section of employees and guests professionally and courteously.
- Excellent written, verbal and problem-solving skills.
Physical Requirements include :
- Ability to stand / walk for a minimum eight-hour shift.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry cartons weighing up to 50 lbs
- Ability to carry boxes / product up and down stairs at most locations several times a day.
- Ability to bend down or kneel to stock product frequently during a shift.
- Must be able to work in environments with extreme temperatures.
