Rosemount Center, an internationally recognized dual language early childhood center in Washington DC just celebrated 50 years of service to the community.
We are actively seeking competent individuals to join our development office team as we enter a new phase in the life of the Center and prepare for a capital campaign to purchase our building.
The Director of Communications and Fundraising Events is crucial to our fundraising efforts. The position description follows :
Duties and Responsibilities
- Organizes and produces the annual fundraising event the Fall Fiesta a Live and Silent Auction - including plan development, obtaining all approvals, and implementing the event to raise significant revenue for general operations.
- Plans, coordinates and implements the annual Golf Tournament event to raise significant revenue from corporate and private sources.
- Oversees the management of the website and keeps current on advances in nonprofit technology for fund-raising purposes.
- Helps to produce publications and e-communications, including bi-monthly E-news, Annual Report, annual fund materials, and event programs and flyers.
- Makes use of web-based communication and data management tools (including Constant Contact and Donor Perfect) and ensures electronic communications are being received by updating development database and contact information as needed.
- Writes and distributes information using social media tools (X-Twitter, Facebook, etc.)
- Prepares press packets; assists with the creation and production of materials for exhibits, fairs, displays, and website;
keeps publicity information up to date.
Maintains close working relationships with the entire Rosemount Center community in order to accomplish the tasks above.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications or related field required.
- Fundraising and / or Communications experience essential.
- Fully computer literate including knowledge of Microsoft Office; ability to manage the organization’s website and use the development database system.
- Excellent English language skills in speaking and writing and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of people.
Knowledge of Spanish a plus.
- Highly organized with ability to manage multiple projects thoroughly by adjusting quickly to shifting priorities, meeting deadlines, and exercising sound judgment.
- Attention to detail is a requirement of this position in order to be successful.
- Pleasant interpersonal skills and desire to work in an early childhood education and human services environment.
- Must have unexpired Driver’s License and regular access to an automobile.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
