Shelf Engine is searching for a talented Senior Data Scientist to report directly to our Head of Data Science. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining the data pipelines and engineering infrastructure that support data science models at scale.
You will also help develop and deploy scalable tools to provide experimentation tracking, model deployment, drift detection, and other model maintenance.
In addition, you will research, build, and launch new algorithms and solutions to solve complex problems for a rapidly evolving product.
The goal is to help Shelf Engine develop and deploy best-in-class machine learning and advanced statistical models to achieve business objectives.

This position is based in Seattle, WA or remote.
Responsibilities
- Implement cutting-edge tools and technologies that enable model training, registration, deployment, and monitoring at scale.
- Work closely with Data and Software Engineers to ensure reliability of our live production environment.
- Provide technical mentorship and expand training to improve data science best practices.
- Work closely with Product, Operations, and Customer teams to identify problem areas and develop robust, scalable solutions.
- Research, build, and launch machine learning and advanced statistical models to solve complex problems.

What We Are Looking For In a Candidate

- 3-5 years industry experience with some combination of :
- Experience putting models into production or with a live online system.
- Experience working with big data and standard tooling (e.g. Python, SQL, Spark).
- Experience with performance monitoring and automated alerting.
- Experience with production ML tooling (e.g. Databricks, Azure, AWS, or GCP).
- You have worked in a production environment and can incorporate testing, monitoring model performance, Git, and Airflow into your workflow.
- You have experience in advanced machine learning, statistics, experimentation, and optimization.
- You have a Masters or PhD degree in a STEM field.
- You are authorized to work in the U.S. for any employer.
