The Integrated Food Security Research Center (IFSRC) at Prairie View A&M University (PVAMU) is committed to including stakeholders to identify unique and sustainable solutions to food insecurity locally, nationally and globally.
The Project Manager II position will be instrumental in facilitating communication and collaboration between our organization and external research partners.
The Project Manager will also be responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and assisting with the management of multiple projects, and laboratory, as well as field activities.
This position is funded by a grant or restricted funds. Continued employment is contingent on the renewal of grant or restricted funding.
This position may pay more than the salary listed above depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities :
Establish and maintain strong, productive relationships with stakeholders, including external funding agencies, academic institutions, foundations, research organizations, and industry experts.
Serve as the primary point of contact between the IFSRC, community-based partners, stakeholders, and funding agencies, facilitating open and clear communication channels to ensure project objectives are met.
Engage with stakeholders such as funding agency representatives, project leaders, foundations, industry, educational institutions, NGOs, alumni, and college advisory board members to provide updates on project progress and ensure alignment with program goals.
Monitor collaborative projects and oversee project investigators (PIs) to ensure goals are met. Coordinate all aspects of externally funded collaborative research and infrastructure development projects, including timelines, deliverables, reports, and resource allocation, to ensure projects are executed efficiently and meet defined goals.
Organize daily activities related to collaborative projects and partnerships based on the goals of the center.
Maintain detailed program documentation, including contracts, agreements, and progress reports, ensuring compliance with all project requirements.
Prepare, develop and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders to effectively communicate project status, findings, and outcomes / impacts of partnered projects.
Prepare quarterly and annual progress reports as needed.
Be proactive in identifying potential challenges and issues in the research and infrastructure development processes and work collaboratively with internal and external teams to find effective solutions.
Develop functional linkages between research and other mission areas, such as academics / student success and extension outreach.
Establish, maintain, and promotes a social media presence for the Center to increase the visibility of IFSRC activities both within and external to the University.
Participates and assists in college-wide events, activities, committees and performs other duties as deemed necessary.
Required Education and Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in related field.
Five years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications :
Background in Food and Nutrition Sciences and / or Public Health.
Master’s degree in Science (General Biology) and Business Management or equivalent in a related field.
Ability to read and interpret scientific literature.
Proven experience in project management, coordination, and external relationship management.
Highly organized and detail-oriented, ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Exceptional interpersonal and human relationship skills to foster collaboration and build strong and sustainable partnerships.
Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal.
Proficiency in project management tools and software.
