POSITION SUMMARY
Barton Malow Company is seeking a Superintendent for solar projects throughout the state of Michigan. The ideal candidate will have relevant Energy, Industrial, Automotive, and / or Self-Perform experience and flexibility for long term company-supported travel.
This individual will ensure a safe work environment and safe work practices for the overall construction site. This individual will also supervise and coordinate various contractors to ensure their contracts are fulfilled on schedule, in accordance with plans and specifications, while ensuring a quality product for the owner.
KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Enforce corporate safety policies on jobsite, providing key responsibility for safety compliance in the field
- Implement proactive pre-task safety planning for all work activities
- Supervise, coordinate, and sequence contractors’ work
- Monitor performance and coordinate work to maintain productivity of trades, ensuring adequate manpower for work in place
- Develop and maintain complete and detailed project schedule and manage work in accordance with the schedule
- Coordinate and track material deliveries
- Develop site logistics plans for entire project to maximize productivity
- Demonstrate fiscal responsibility by enforcing contract requirements and limiting field changes
- Assist with development of work scopes and front end documents
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager
- Effective timely resolution of conflicts and disputes to minimize delays and claims
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Minimum of 8 years of direct supervision of projects including subcontractors and / or self-perform trades
- 4-year technical / engineering degree or equivalent professional experience in the trades
- Local market experience and subcontractor relationships
- Solar or Wind market experience highly preferred
- Strong negotiation skills to resolve field issues with subcontractor, design team and / or owner
